Sale
Sime Darby London Limited (SDLL) recently announced that it had identified a buyer for the freehold of the Lec Airfield, off Shripney Road, Bognor Regis on an unconditional basis. The sale of the site has now been completed with a company owned by a local businessman.
This marks the end of SDLL's involvement in the landholdings which it purchased from Lec Refrigeration plc in 2004. Raof Daud, representing SDLL said, "We are very pleased that over a period of time, we have been able to work closely with local stakeholders to bring the former Lec landholdings back into beneficial use and thereby generate investment, growth and employment for the local economy. On a personal note, I have very much enjoyed working with our team and local stakeholders, and would like to thank them for their contribution, guidance and support."
He added, "SDLL will continue to maintain a small office in Bognor Regis for the time being to ensure a smooth handover and transition for the Lec Airfield, but the focus of our attention is with the Battersea Power Station project in London, where Sime Darby has a 40% stake."
